Well-defined jobs sit at the heart of fair pay and strong performance, yet many organisations still run on job descriptions and grade structures that have not been reviewed in years. As the needs of employees change, HR and reward professionals often try to fit those needs into a system that no longer fits. In a competitive market, when you want to attract and retain your best people and high-performers, having clear job roles and a fair job evaluation and grading system is crucial to underpin best-practice reward policies and deliver pay-for-performance.
This 3-day Masterclass on Complete Job Architecture covers the full journey, from analysing a role and writing a clear job description, to evaluating jobs and building a grade structure that fits your business. Day 1 covers job analysis and job descriptions, providing the foundation for the two days of job evaluation and grade design that follow. Most employers want to be able to "attract, retain and motivate" the best employees and teams, and this course covers the key tools, techniques and best-practice processes for defining roles, evaluating jobs and placing them accurately into your overall grade structure. It explores the different job evaluation systems used globally and gives you a high-level appreciation of the most commonly used best-practice approaches (such as Hay, Mercer, Towers-Watson, etc).
An optional foundation day, ideal if you want to strengthen how you define and document roles before evaluating them.
The core programme covering the tools, methodologies and grade design that place every job accurately in your structure.

You will gain hands-on practice in analysing and evaluating jobs. The aim of this course is to enable you to better understand how to define job roles, write clear job descriptions, evaluate jobs, and design a grade structure that will help you attract, motivate and retain employees. You will work on typical job analysis, job evaluation and grading problems and issues, including actual issues identified by participants during the course. The course will include the following case studies designed around various companies globally:
Provide techniques and professional skills for job analysis and job evaluation, and understand how to write job descriptions and build grade structures that place jobs fairly in the overall hierarchy for best-practice human resources management.
Learn about the different formats of job descriptions, including accountability summaries and role profiles, and which sections matter most.
Understand the different approaches, systems and tools for job evaluation in order to determine how to place a job into the correct grade in your grading and pay structures, and what the advantages and disadvantages are of the most commonly used methods.
Align your job descriptions and grade structures to your organisational objectives and HR strategy, and discover practical steps for implementing job analysis and job evaluation systems.
Increase your business performance and employee effectiveness by developing clear job descriptions and a clear grading structure that correctly values the responsibilities and contributions of each job.
Opportunities for networking in the breaks with your fellow course delegates and course tutor to discuss practical issues that will help you in your workplace.
