The 4th edition of the “AI Transformation in Internal Audit Masterclass" addresses the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence in the audit profession. As highlighted by the Risk in Focus 2026 survey from the Institute of Internal Auditors, Digital Disruption, New Technology and AI has risen to the 3rd highest organizational risk - up from 4th place in 2025 - with 48% of Chief Audit Executives across Europe identifying this as a top-5 priority, reflecting both its transformative potential and the critical challenges it presents.
This comprehensive three-day masterclass goes beyond basic AI awareness to provide internal auditors with the specialized knowledge and practical frameworks needed to audit, oversee, and leverage artificial intelligence within their organizations. The program uniquely combines hands-on experience with generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Domo, Beautiful.ai) with in-depth coverage of ISO 42001, the international standard for AI management systems.
Participants will gain dual capabilities: first, learning to apply AI as a powerful tool to enhance audit processes in areas such as risk assessment, fraud detection, and compliance monitoring; second, developing the competencies to audit AI systems themselves, providing critical assurance over AI governance, risk assessment, model reliability, and ethical implementation across the organization.
The course addresses both the opportunities and risks inherent in AI adoption. You will learn to navigate the EU AI Act classification system, implement AI readiness assessments, conduct AI Business Risk Impact Assessments, design comprehensive governance frameworks, and provide model assurance. Practical exercises and case studies demonstrate how generative AI serves as a capacity multiplier while exploring the controls necessary throughout the AI system lifecycle.
By the conclusion of this masterclass, attendees will be positioned to lead their organizations' AI transformation journey from multiple angles: as users of AI-powered audit tools, as advisors on AI strategy and governance, and as providers of assurance over AI-driven processes. This comprehensive skill set enables internal audit to cement its role as a strategic partner in technological innovation while ensuring responsible AI implementation.
